In October 2011, the Undergraduate Awards brought together 28 remarkable undergraduates from across the island of Ireland and the USA for a two day Undergraduate Summit where the winning students were awarded the Oscar Wilde Gold Medal for academic excellence by President Mary McAleese at the Awards Ceremony held at Dublin Castle.
Over the duration of the Summit, the winning students explored the length & breadth of Dublin city, gained exposure to a wealth of cultural experiences and connected with influential figures in industry, academia and politics.
With the awards opening up to undergraduate students from across the United Kingdom, USA and Canada for the first time, the 2012 programme is set to bring brilliant minds from far and wide to Dublin for a three day, one of a kind Summit, putting Ireland in the centre of the international brain race.
Open to students in their final or penultimate year on a degree course, the Undergraduate Awards rewards innovation, independent thinking and creativity within coursework across all academic disciplines. Please see the Submission Guide for details on how to submit.
This year, for the first time in the UA programme, an Irish winner and an international winner will be selected per each of the 20 categories, from which an overall category winner will be selected. The two winners from each category will go on to receive their gold medal from President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and will be brought to Dublin, Ireland, for the incredible 3 day UA Summit.
I'd encourage any DIT undergrad to enter.
Best of Luck,
Sarah
